Healthy life

Many factors affect your health and while some are not in your control like; your genetic makeup and your age. By making simple changes to your lifestyle and taking common sense steps toward healthy living, you can help reduce your risk of heart disease, cancer, stroke and other serious diseases.

Living a healthy lifestyle doesn't have to mean extreme changes and the fact is, drastic changes almost always lead to dramatic failure. The trick to healthy living is making small changes...taking a walk, have fruit instead of a candy bar, skip that second helping and have an extra glass of water. Little things that make a difference:

  • See your doctor for regular screenings, to prevent sickness
  • Eat a variety of healthy foods, limit calories and saturated fat
  • Be more physically active
  • Monitor, control your blood pressure and cholesterol
  • Quit smoking
  • Protect yourself from too much sun

Making small changes today will lead to big rewards tomorrow.

A healthy diet is significant part of the healthy living lifestyle and nature's secret weapons for good health are the nutrients in the foods we eat. Making small changes to your diet or eating plan can be exactly what you need for improved health, quality of life, and healthy aging. Many diseases and conditions, (including allergies, and family history,) can require changes in your diet to keep you feeling well and in good health.

Diets are simply a collection of all the food, beverages and dietary supplements we use to provide our bodies with the nutrients needed for good health. Diets are modified for a number of reasons most notably for weight loss but, diets may be altered when an individual has food allergies or is lactose intolerant. Disease management may require more or less of a specific nutrient as in a diabetic diet. Certain lifestyle choices like being a vegetarian and some religious requirements may all dictate the use of special diets. Regardless of the reason, My Spice Blends believes special diets can be just as tasty and easy to follow as traditional eating plans so we have collected a wide variety of recipes and ingredients to meet that challenge.

Physical activity is another part of the healthy living lifestyle. One of the biggest health problems today is lack of physical activity. You can start the process of weight control now by adding a little more activity to your life. Again, start small and remember, every little bit counts and it all adds up to burning more calories.

Chef Tony has promised to help you personalize your healthy living lifestyle with tools to set personal goals, measure progress, and to empower you to take control. By sharing his personal victories and failures about how his own program is going, as well as the tips and guides he has discovered along the way, we hope to inspire you to set and reach your own personal goals.

By understanding your current health status, unique lifestyle factors and personal goals, you can achieve your desired results in a measured, safe, and meaningful way.

And finally, with the help of Susan Stevensen, (M.Ed., LDN, Licensed Dietitian), we at My Spice Blends will pursue this most important challenge to bring you the information, resources, and tools you need to make intelligent, informed, healthy choices for...
