Perfect White Rice:

Rice is versatile and goes well with almost any dish. Try adding your favorite herbs for some variety, and substitute vegetable or chicken stock for the water.

Recipe Yield: 4 - 6 sevings | Prep Time: 5 minutes | Cook Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients

2 cups water
1 cup white rice
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
¼ teaspoon salt (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Place rice, water, butter, oil & salt in 2 quart sauce pan with tight fitting lid.
Bring to a boil, stir and reduce heat, cover and let simmer for 20 - 25 minutes.
Remove from heat and let stand. (About 5 minutes)
Fluff with fork and serve hot.

A much healthier version would be to use extra virgin olive oil in place of vegetable oil & margarine. Kosher flake sea salt is a better substitute for table salt. Left by: Kelley (27 Jan 2014)
